Beginning therapy can be intimidating. I commend my clients for taking this first step and am honored to work with people at their most vulnerable times. My goal is for my clients to feel open and comfortable and to have honest conversations that lead to healing, reflection, and self-growth. I strive to create a warm, caring, compassionate, and nonjudgmental environment where my clients can feel supported, listened to, and challenged wherever they are in life.
“Emalie Karp has lived in the Lansing area for over 20 years. Her passion for maternal health led her to pursue her MSW after a career in secondary education. During her studies, she interned for Family Outreach Services at the Ingham County Health Department and was hired before the start of her internship to complete the Maternal Child Health Needs Assessment and present at the Infant Mortality Coalition’s annual meeting.
Her second internship was for Sparrow Family Medicine, where she participated in implementing Collaborative Care for at-risk patients. After graduating from MSU’s MSW program, Emalie worked with high risk families in Early Intervention at Community Mental Health.
As a therapist at Perspectives Therapy Services in Lansing, Emalie looks forward to working with a variety of clients, specifically including perinatal patients and women at all different stages of fertility and life. In addition to her work as a clinical therapist at PTS, Emalie is also currently working on a Michigan Health Endowment Fund grant project with MSU and Sparrow. The grant will implement Collaborative Care at three residency clinics to address perinatal depression in at-risk mothers.”
